I am an Assistant Professor at the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, East China Normal University and the Principal Investigator of the PHEW (Promoting Parental Health & Emotional Well-being) Lab. Before that, I was a CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research) Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. I obtained my Ph.D. and M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, and my B.S. in Psychology from Beijing Normal University.
My research focuses on the roles of stress and parental self-regulation in the etiology and prevention of at-risk parenting and parent mental health symptoms. I am also interested in the social perceptions of and responses to parent mental health challenges and the risk for child maltreatment. Another line of my work examines the psychophysiological mechanisms underlying the development of children's regulatory difficulties, especially among those experiencing early adversity and violence in the family context. Please feel free to contact me with any question regarding my research or to request copies of our papers and research materials.
